COSHH

Duration: 5 Hours

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

The Level 2 Award in the Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH) is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to recognize the risks associated with hazardous substances and how to control them. It is aimed at learners who work in an environment where coming into hazardous substances is likely.

The COSHH course assessment consists of a 30-minute exam made up of 15 multiple choice questions.
Fire Marshal

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This qualification is designed to give the candidates the Fire Awareness training they require as an employee. Businesses are required by law to provide a sufficient number of competent people to perform evacuation duties. We can provide individual candidates with training at one of our training venues or we can deliver group courses in your work place. You will be issued a certificate on completion of the course.

How the course is assessed
On the fire marshal course the candidate is continually assessed throughout the duration of the course.
Fire Risk Assessment level 2

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This course is designed to provide the skills required for the responsible person to undertake a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment. It aims to provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding of the processes involved with writing and producing the risk assessment in accordance with current legislation.

For the Fire Risk Assessment Level 2 course online tasks are set and completed using an online assessment and qualification system.
Fire Safety Awareness Level 1

Duration: 4 Hours

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This qualification is designed to give candidates the understanding that it is the responsibility of all staff within a workplace to contribute to the prevention of fires. It is aimed at all staff employed at a workplace where a basic understanding of fire safety is required.

Fire safety Level 2

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This qualification is aimed at anyone involved in the management of fire safety in any workplace. Candidates will know that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone, including managers, supervisors and fire wardens, and will recognize the consequences of a fire in any premises.

    This qualification covers an understanding of:
  • The hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
  • How fires are caused in the workplace
  • Components of the fire triangle
  • Characteristics of fire and smoke spread
  • The different methods used to identify and control fire hazards

Assessment consists of a 1-hour exam made up of 30 multiple choice questions.
Food Safety in Catering

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This course has been developed to provide those who work in the catering industry with knowledge of basic food safety, to meet the legal basic food training requirements and to improve the level of food safety in the industry.

Under UK legislation everyone who handles food as part of their job must be provided with suitable training relevant to their work activities.

    This qualification covers an understanding of:
  • How individuals can take personal responsibility for food safety (which includes an introduction to the legal responsibilities of food handlers and food business operators)
  • The importance of keeping themselves clean and hygienic
  • The importance of keeping the work areas clean and hygienic
  • The importance of keeping food safe
  • Ability to contribute both to the maintenance of a safe work environment and to the process of formal risk assessment

How the course is assessed
This unit is knowledge based; assessment is through standard multiple choice examination, externally set and marked by IQ held under exam conditions.
Health and Safety at Work Level 1

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements, but it is expected that candidates will have a level of literacy adequate to cope with the examination.

This qualification is a nationally recognized qualification aimed at all employees. It provides a basic understanding and knowledge of health and safety in the workplace including the duties of employers and employees under UK health and safety legislation.

This qualification is suitable for all employees. It provides basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and is being delivered by hundreds of organizations in the UK. There are no formal entry requirements for the Level 1 Award, but candidates are expected to have a level of literacy adequate to cope with the exam.

How the course is assessed
The Level 1 Award is assessed by a one-hour examination. The 40 multiple-choice questions are drawn from a question bank and cover the assessment criteria. The pass mark is 26 out of 40.
Health and Safety at Work Level 2

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements, but it is expected that candidates will have a level of literacy adequate to cope with the examination.

This course is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of others in the workplace. It is recommended that all employees in the workplace hold this qualification.

IOSH Managing Safely

Duration: 4 Days

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to manage risk and resources. It is aimed at managers, supervisors and staff responsible for managing health and safety effectively. It covers the application of management principles and responsibilities, basic risk assessment and control, legal requirements, accident investigation, performance measurement and environmental concerns.

How the course is assessed
The IOSH Managing Safely assessment is taken in two parts – a theoretical multiple choice question paper and a project paper based on your own workplace. The project paper consists of a series of forms, each asking for information about your own workplace.

NEBOSH

Duration: 10 Days

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This course is designed for managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organizations who need a wide understanding of health and safety issues. It provides a valuable overview and is a sound basis for further professional study. The certificate helps staff manage risks effectively.

How the course is assessed
On the Level 3 NEBOSH Occupational Health & Safety course consists of three units. Units 1 and 2 are each assessed by one two-hour written exam. Each written exam consists of 10 short answer questions and one long answer question. Unit 3 is assessed by one two-hour practical exam.
Risk Assessment Level 2

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This course is designed to enable learners to understand the basic principles of risk assessment. Although not all employees will be expected to undertake risk assessments themselves, they may be asked to contribute to the process and will be expected to act always to protect their own health and safety as well as that of others.

Risk Assessment Level 3

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This course is aimed to provide learners with a thorough understanding of the main categories of accidents and ill health, the benefits of good health and safety management in the work place. It is designed for anyone with a responsibility to conduct risk assessments.

  • Conduct risk assessments (with the necessary technical knowledge in relation to the activities/ environments/issues)
  • Organize and implement a risk assessment programme
  • Participate in the identification of specific training needs for the activities being assessed

How the course is assessed
The Risk Assessment Level 3 course assessment will consist of an assignment as well as self-evaluation.
Safe Moving and Handling

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

The Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is intended as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training.

Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognize its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

    This qualification covers an understanding of:
  • Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety
  • Be able to apply safe manual handling principles
  • Understand the reasons for safe manual handling
  • Understand how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety
  • Assist employers in meeting legal requirements and promote improved standards of health and safety within their organization

How the course is assessed
The Safe Moving and Handling qualification is assessed by practical examination throughout the duration of the course by the tutor, followed by a 15-question multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes. Successful learners must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15. Learners must also practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques as indicated within the learning outcomes of the unit.
Supervising Staff Safely

Duration: 2 Days

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.

This qualification is aimed at team leaders, supervisors and managers. Any employee with responsibility for the health and safety of others.

It is designed to provide a thorough knowledge and understanding of key health and safety elements, including risks and hazards, management systems, legal requirements and monitoring.

    What is covered on the course
  • Legal requirements relating to supervising staff safely
  • Understanding the objectives of management systems to support health and safety in the workplace
  • Examine workplace procedures to minimize the threat of hazards and risks
  • Carry out health and safety monitoring activities in the workplace

How the course is assessed
This qualification is assessed through a 40-question multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 1 hour. Successful learners must achieve a score of at least 28 out of 40.
Travel safety Awareness

Duration: 1 Day

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be 18 years old or over, and have a good comprehension of the English language.
